Go REST is a free, public REST API for testing and prototyping. This page describes what we do with information you give us when signing in or interacting with the service. Plain English, no dark patterns.
What we collect
When you sign in via OAuth (GitHub, Google, Microsoft) we receive your provider account ID and email. We do not see your password. If you create access tokens, we store them so you can use them. If you submit a contact form or open a Q&A question, we keep what you type.
Why we collect it
Email lets us recognise you on return visits and notify you about important changes. Access tokens authenticate API requests and apply per-token rate limits. Contact form input lets us reply to you.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not market to children under 13. Signed-in Editors and Admins do not see advertising.
Cookies and advertising
We use first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember interface preferences. On the editorial sections (/docs, /learn, /recipes) we display Google AdSense advertising. AdSense and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) and similar technologies to serve ads based on prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, or out of third-party cookie use by some vendors at https://www.aboutads.info. For details on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Disabling cookies
You can disable cookies in your browser. Sign-in and saved console state will then break. Disabling cookies does not disable ads but does prevent personalisation.
Account deletion
Schedule deletion from My Account → Profile. The system removes your account within 24 hours, typically much sooner. Once requested, deletion cannot be cancelled.
Third parties
We use Sorcery (OAuth), Solid Queue (background jobs) and Postgres to operate this service. We do not share data with parties outside the necessary hosting infrastructure.
Compliance
We honour the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). California residents may request a copy of their data via the contact form.
Contact
Privacy questions, deletion requests outside the app, or anything you would rather discuss directly: use the contact form.
